Tranmere story
Tony Thomas, born on July 12, 1971, is an English former professional footballer who primarily played as a defender. He had a notable career with Tranmere Rovers, where he spent the majority of his playing days. Thomas began his career as a junior with Tranmere Rovers reserves and made his debut for the senior team at the age of 17 during the 1987-88 season. He went on to make over 300 appearances for the club in the next ten years.
During his time at Tranmere Rovers, Thomas was part of the team that secured victory in the 1989-90 Football League Trophy. He later made a dream move to Everton in August 1997 for a £400,000 deal as a lifelong Evertonian. However, his time at Everton was marred by injuries, and he eventually moved on to play in the Scottish Premier League for Motherwell.
Overall, Tony Thomas had a significant impact on Tranmere Rovers, Everton, and Motherwell during his career as a dedicated defender.
